
Dr. Ciccotti is a board certified, fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in Sports Medicine. His goal, as a sports medicine surgeon, is to get his patients back to doing the things they love whether that is playing a sport, getting back to work, or simply chasing their kids around the backyard. He aims to do so in the safest way possible using the very best evidence that is available. He believes in shared decision-making so that patients can formulate a plan that works for their needs and goals.
Dr. Ciccotti is a proud native of the Philadelphia area. He graduated from Yale University with distinction where he was a four-year member of the varsity heavyweight rowing team, competing both nationally and internationally. He completed medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed his Orthopaedic Surgery internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with Rothman Orthopaedics. Finally, he completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine Surgery at the prestigious Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. During his fellowship, he began serving as a team physician for the U.S. Olympic Ski and Snowboard teams, assisting in providing international medical coverage. He is honored to continue to serve in the pool of team physicians providing medical coverage for US Ski and Snowboard as they train and compete around the world. Locally, Dr. Ciccotti serves as one of the team physicians for St. Joseph’s University and Holy Family University.
Dr. Ciccotti is a nationally recognized researcher. In 2023, he was recognized with the O’Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award and Herodicus Award, two of the most prestigious prizes awarded for clinical research in Sports Medicine for his work at Rothman Orthopaedics on Tommy John Surgery/UCL Reconstruction. He has authored dozens of articles and book chapters related to orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He has served as a co-editor for Orthopedics Today and as a peer reviewer for multiple orthopaedic journals. He is a member of and has presented research for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), Eastern Orthopaedic Association (EOA), and Jefferson Orthopaedic Association (JOA). He is proud to serve as a member of the AOSSM Education Committee as well as a representative for Pennsylvania on the AOSSM Council of Delegates.
Dr. Ciccotti’s clinical interests include: arthroscopy of the knee, ACL and knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair and surgery, cartilage restoration/transplantation, osteotomy, arthroscopy of the shoulder, rotator cuff repair, shoulder labral repair, shoulder Instability, Latarjet procedure, UCL reconstruction/Tommy John Surgery, UCL repair, arthroscopy of the elbow, and biceps/triceps repair.
