Dr. James C. Krieg is the Chief of Orthopaedic Trauma and Fracture Care and a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery.
He comes to the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute from Seattle, Washington where he was an Attending Physician at Harborview Medical Center, and an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Washington.
Prior to that, he had served as Orthopaedic Trauma Director at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Krieg completed his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa and his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology at Harborview Medical Center.
His research interests involve fracture treatment and healing, and have led to novel treatment methods for pelvic fractures and rib fractures. He has published extensively in professional journals and authored several textbook chapters. Dr. Krieg is a dedicated educator, both nationally and internationally and is actively involved in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University.
He is a member of several professional societies, including - the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. He is also serving as a Trustee of the AO Foundation, an internationally recognized organization at the forefront of fracture care education and research.
