Frank S. Cautela, MD

Dr. Cautela is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine. He provides comprehensive care of conditions affecting the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow. His clinical interests include arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow, ACL and knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus surgery, cartilage restoration, patellofemoral instability, knee osteotomy, rotator cuff repair, shoulder labral repair, shoulder instability, shoulder replacement, hip labral repair/reconstruction, hip impingement, elbow UCL reconstruction/repair, and biceps/triceps repair.

A native of New York City, Dr. Cautela earned his undergraduate degree from New York University and his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine with a Distinction in Research. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City followed by a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at Thomas Jefferson University/Rothman Orthopaedic Insititute in Philadelphia. During his fellowship, Dr. Cautela served as a team physician for the Philadelphia Phillies, Villanova University, St. Joseph’s University, Drexel University and Eastern University. Dr. Cautela currently serves as an Assistant Team Physician for the Philadelphia Phillies.

He remains active in research with numerous peer-reviewed publications, presentations, abstracts and textbook chapters. He continues to participate in multiple projects researching a wide range of topics in orthopaedic sports medicine. He is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
