After several months of hip pain, I visited Dr. Hozack, upon the recommendation of a neighbor. Having been an avid marathoner and triathlete, I researched surgeries that would allow me to continue running. We both agreed that resurfacing would be the best option.
Six months later, after being cleared to run, I experienced the same discomfort in my other hip. Again, resurfacing was performed.
After rehab and strength training, I resumed training. I then suffered a horrific bike accident, fracturing both arms and four ribs. Again, under the care of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, I recovered, yet again, and resumed training.
Fast forward two years to July 2013, I crossed the finish line of Ironman Lake Placid. I was truly an "iron" man, with both hips and plates and screws in each arm.
