Dr. Herrick J. Siegel is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex hip and knee replacement, revision arthroplasty, limb preservation, and musculoskeletal oncology. He brings more than two decades of high-volume surgical experience and academic leadership to Rothman Orthopaedics, offering advanced expertise for patients dealing with severe arthritis, failed joint replacements, metastatic bone disease, and complex reconstructive challenges.
Dr. Siegel earned his medical degree from New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, where he received comprehensive training in trauma, joint replacement, oncology, and advanced reconstructive techniques. He then completed a prestigious fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at the Mayo Clinic, one of the nation’s leading centers for musculoskeletal tumor care.
Before joining Rothman, Dr. Siegel served as a tenured Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he led both the Orthopaedic Oncology and Adult Reconstruction divisions. Over his career, he has performed thousands of joint replacements and limb-salvage procedures, trained more than 100 residents and fellows, and helped develop surgical techniques and implants now used worldwide.
Dr. Siegel has been consistently recognized among Best Doctors in America, Newsweek Top Cancer Doctors, and multiple professional organizations for excellence in clinical care and education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national guidelines, and is frequently invited to teach and lecture at international orthopedic and arthroplasty conferences.
