Rothman Orthopaedics Announces Leadership Changes to Drive Growth in the New York Market

(NEW YORK, NEW YORK) WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2020—Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, an internationally-recognized leader in orthopaedic care, is excited to announce changes in their strategic leadership in the New York region: Dr. Michael Smith & Dr. Eric Grossman will assume roles within the practice that will enhance Rothman’s standing in the market.

“We felt it was important to split our previous leadership position in New York into two roles given the amount of work both entail,” said Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, President of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Richard H. Rothman Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. “We’ve continued to grow in the New York market and feel that these two outstanding physicians put us in a strong position to exponentially improve operations and relationships in the area.”

Dr. Michael Smith joined Rothman Orthopaedics last year and has provided strong strategic insights to the organization drawing from his more than decade long experience of practicing in Manhattan. He will serve as the Rothman Board of Council Administrator for the New York region. In this new role, Dr. Smith will oversee the strategic initiatives and direction of the New York region with collaboration from Rothman administration and the Board of Directors.

Dr. Eric Grossman joined Rothman Orthopaedics a year and a half ago and has fostered a strong working relationship with the leadership team at Northwell Health, Rothman’s health system partner in New York, and will serve as the Director of Health System Relations in the region. In this new role, Dr. Grossman will collaborate directly with Northwell Health, as well as their employed and affiliated practices, to jointly improve operational efficiency, patient outcomes and access to world-class care.
